It’s well connected
Nuneaton enjoys a central location, which means it’s easy to reach several other UK towns and cities. There are two local train stations, which have routes to a variety of places, such as London, Birmingham, Coventry and Leamington. The average journey time to London Easton is just under an hour and a half.
However, the train isn’t the only way to get around in this town. There are regular bus services in operation (including Stagecoach and Arriva, which take passengers to locations like Leicester and Tamworth), and the M6, M69 and M42 are all close by.
Plenty to see and do
There are some fantastic attractions in and around Nuneaton. If you’re a history-buff, Astley Castle is bound to appeal, along with the visually imposing Arbury Hall, which also boasts some landscaped gardens. Alternatively, Hartshill Hayes Country Park is the ideal spot to enjoy a walk with the family.
If you like spending time on the water, Bosworth Water Park is worth a visit. The lakes provide the perfect place to have a go at kayaking, windsurfing and fishing. Hoar Park Craft Village and Children’s Farm is another local highlight, and if the weather isn’t so good, you can while away an afternoon in Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery.
Great retail and restaurants
Nuneaton offers its residents a wide range of shops; high street favourites and unique independent stores alike. The Ropewalk Shopping Centre is the place to visit for an afternoon’s retail therapy, and Abbeygate Shopping Centre also has plenty of shops to peruse.
For an evening out, you’ll be spoiled for choice, thanks to the wealth of pubs and restaurants in the area. The Royal Redgate is a good option for a meal and a few glasses of wine, and The Help Out Mill Restaurant takes pride in using locally sourced ingredients. Crossed Khukris Gurkha Restaurant is another option, if you’re in the mood for an expertly cooked curry.
It has high-performing schools
There are several excellent schools in the Nuneaton area. Higham Lane School is a good example; a secondary academy-mainstream establishment that was awarded ‘outstanding’ in its recent Ofsted report. St Thomas More Catholic School and Etone College are also well-regarded secondary schools.
Likewise, there are several good primary schools to choose from. For example, Our Lady & St Joseph Academy has 86% of its students meeting the expected levels in maths, reading and writing (the national average is 65%).
You’ll get a great house for your money
The Nuneaton property market has something for everyone; from expansive mansions with acres of land, to one-bedroomed apartments that are priced well below the national average. There’s a wide range of architectural styles to choose from; including 1920s and 1930s semi-detached homes, spacious 1970s houses, and contemporary properties with driveways and good-sized gardens.
